Simple Test Procedure

  1. Remove the test strip from the sealed pouch.
  2. Add one drop of saliva sample to the pad on the strip.
  3. Wait approximately 2 minutes for the strip to develop.
  4. Compare the color on the test strip with the color chart on the pouch to estimate the BAC level.

How to Interpret Results

The test pad changes color based on the alcohol concentration present in the saliva sample. Match the developed color on the strip to the color chart provided on the pouch to estimate whether the result corresponds to approximately 0.02%, 0.08%, or 0.30% BAC.

Important: This test is intended as a rapid screening method only. To confirm the concentration of a positive specimen, an alternate non-enzymatic method such as headspace gas chromatography should be used.

Alcohol and drug test interpretation chart Vector chart showing how to interpret alcohol saliva test strips and drug test results, including negative, positive, invalid, and blood alcohol concentration color levels. Interpreting alcohol test results Read results at 2 minutes. Results after 2 minutes may not be accurate. NEGATIVE No color changes on reaction pad. POSITIVE Compare the color of reaction pad with provided color chart to estimate the approximate blood alcohol level. Interpreting drug test results Read results at 5 minutes. Results after 5 minutes may not be accurate. NEGATIVE Two colored lines will appear on the strip. The intensity of the line does not matter. POSITIVE One colored line will appear in the C section of the test strip. Note: If no colored lines appear, the results are invalid, and the test should be repeated.
